Lucinda had a really productive time in Hong Kong to set the foundations for the fall reunion. She set out (Feb 24 to 3rd April, 2010) to connect with the local HK adoptees and the adoption community (local partners) in hope to establish a local HK organising committee. It will still be a challenge reaching adult HK adoptees and orphans, as organisations (understandably) are bound by the Data Protection Act.
In Nov 2009, on Facebook I saw that Lucinda mentioned she was a HK adoptee, so I was very surprised because not every day I get to find another HK adoptee. So I (Jess) said hello. Soon after, Lucinda came up with an idea for a reunion… and the rest is history =). Lucinda started corresponded with other HK adoptees around Oct 2009.
Facebook could be a nice way to not only get updates about the reunion & events, but to also connect with other HK/Chinese adoptees even if they can not attend our first reunion =). Please note we have made the Facebook group a closed to allow people to have a open platform to talk and discuss, but do not hesitate a request to join =).
We thought it would be good to get into building the site =) which I took on (Jess). Most of the site is completed, but from time to time it will be edited and changed. We will continue to add interesting & useful information to the site . Enjoy! =)
