This page is dedicated to adoptees who are happy to share their story with you.

Diana’s Story:

I am DH and I want to share my story with you.

When I was 3 months old a village elder sold me to Miss Lucy Clay who ran Fanling Babies Home for 3 HK dollars, not sure she gave the elder the money. I stayed at the home until the age of 9. An RAF couple from England adopted me while being posted in Hong Kong. They also adopted 3 other Chinese girls. We all came back to England in 1959 -1960.

My Husband and I went back to Hong Kong to visit the Fanling Babies Home. The home was closed but the main building with the Lilly pond and the main gate was still standing. I always remember the main building since I was a tiny little girl. On each side of the main building there was prefabricated structure building where all the children slept. It brought back so many memories.

The first time I return to Hong Kong and stepped off the plane at Kai Tak airport, the feeling I had was unbelievable after 25 years being away.  I have been back to Hong Kong and visited Fanling Babies Home since the last visit, the home is no long there.

You will find picture of the home at www.fanlingbabies.com (posted March 3, 2010)

Debbie’s Story:

I spent the first 2.1/2 years of my life in Fanling Babies Home and in 1961; my adoptive parents brought me to the UK.  I have visited Hong Kong twice since my adoption: the first time was in 1971 for a family reunion, with my adoptive father’s Chinese relatives and the second time was on my honeymoon, with my husband William during 1979.

My journey started approximately 3 years ago when I stumbled upon the website for Fanling Babies Home.   Since then I have made contact with many fellow adoptees around the world, using emails and Skype technology.  Once the Hong Kong reunion dates had been finalised I wanted to be part of this amazing journey of discovery and I booked my tickets right away.  I have been actively engaged in contacting other adoptees and with my new found friend Diana, (an adoptee) we have arranged a meeting for adoptee’s in Manchester in June 2010, a gathering was arranged in Birmingham 2010 with the help of both Karen and Kate and the latest reunion gathering is to take place on Saturday 19th, March 2011 with the help of Tessa  (details can be found on the Events Tab).

Hi eatsee, i was just updating this website (as the web designer) and i found i couldn’t view the photos you mentioned in the link above. it says “Oops… there’s nothing to see here. Either you do not have access to these photos or they don’t exist at this web address…”. Is the album privet, or can the images be found else where?
